LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Connecticut volleyball team fell at Louisville, 3-0, in BIG EAST action on Sunday afternoon. The loss, their second of the weekend, dropped the Huskies to 8-7 overall and 0-2 in the conference, while the Cardinals improved to 10-4 and 2-0.
Louisville came out strong with a 25-7 win in the first set, followed by wins of 25-13 and 25-20. Junior outside hitter Lola Arslanbekova recorded 18 kills, while hitting at a .571 clip. Sophomore Emily Juhl was second on the team with 10 kills and classmate setter Taylor Brauneis posted a double-double with 37 assists and 11 digs.
For UConn, senior outside hitter Jordan Kirk (Plano, Texas) scored a team-high seven kills to go with six digs. Junior libero Kelsey Maving (Tonawanda, N.Y.) picked up a team-best 11 digs and junior setter Angela Roidt dished out 20 assists.
The Cardinals held the Huskies to a .049 hitting percentage, while .391 as a team.
UConn returns home to Gampel Pavilion for a three-match home stand between October 1 and October 4. Next weekend kicks off as Marquette and Syracuse come in for matches at 2:00 pm on Saturday and Sunday, followed by a Tuesday night match against Hartford.
