STORRS, Conn. – The University of Connecticut volleyball team fell to conference foe St. John’s, 3-0, on Saturday afternoon. After a pair of wins at home last weekend, the Huskies dropped to 11-7 overall and 2-1 in the BIG EAST, while the Red Storm moved to 16-3, 3-0.
UConn hung tough in all three sets falling 25-20, 25-21 and 25-21.
Senior outside hitter Mattison Quayle (Los Angeles, Calif.) led all players with 12 kills, followed by sophomore outside hitter Devon Maugle (Plymouth Meeting, Pa.) with seven.
Ashley Boursiquote hit an astonishing .909 with 10 kills in 11 attempts, while Milica Krstojevic also notched 10 kills and a .421 attack rate.
Freshman Marissa Prinzbach and senior Angela Roidt split the setting duties for Connecticut. Prinzbach tallied 17 assists, while Roidt added 14. For St. John’s, Sabina Piegza totaled 36.
Senior libero Kelsey Maving (Tonawanda, N.Y.) picked up 13 digs for the Huskies, while Shawna-Lei Santos led the Red Storm with 10.
UConn returns to action next Saturday at Notre Dame, followed by a Sunday match at DePaul.
