STORRS, Conn. - Keeley Abram (Hermosa Beach, Calif.) is set to join the University of Connecticut volleyball team for the 2009 season according to head coach Holly Strauss-O'Brien. A setter and defensive specialist, Abram was a three-year letterwinner at Marymount High School.
"We are excited to officially welcome Keeley into the UConn Volleyball program," Strauss-O'Brien said. "Keeley is a great all-around athlete who can play multiple positions and impact the level of play in our gym. Keeley is a fierce competitor and is a solid addition to our program."
Abram helped the 2008 Marymount squad to its third-consecutive Sunshine League Championship title (2006, 2007). The team reached the CIF Southern Section Division 1 Semi-Final. Abram earned first-team All-Sunshine League honors following her final season.
She is a four-year letterwinner in softball and earned first-team All-League honors following the 2006 season during which she also received the Coaches' Award. She helped the team to back-to-back Sunshine League Championships (2007, 2008). In 2008, Abram and Marymount reached the semifinals of the CIF Section Division 4 playoffs.
A member of the Marymount surfing team, Abram led the team to consecutive ISF Channel Section Championship titles in 2007 and 2008. In each season she was acknowledged as the MVP after finishing 14th and eighth in the women's Shortboard Channel Section in 2007 and 2008, respectively.
She is a four-year honor roll student is a three-time California Scholarship Federation Student (2005, 2006, 2008). Abram served as a member of the Student Council for two years and is currently an associated Student Body Athletic Coordinator.
Abram joins Cayla Broadwater (Williamsport, Md.), Kelsey Maving (Tonawanda, N.Y.) and Mattison Quayle (Los Angeles, Calif.) as the members of the UConn volleyball class of 2013
