STORRS, Conn. – The University of Connecticut volleyball team and third-year head coach Kris Grunwald have announced the addition of two incoming players for the 2016 season: middle blocker Genna Florig and defensive specialist Avery Spaziani.
Florig joins the Huskies from Wilsonville, Ore., the farthest hometown of any current volleyball player from Storrs. Spaziani, a native of Hingham, Mass., was a letterwinner in multiple sports at Notre Dame Academy.
The pair of freshmen join a UConn team that finished tied for fourth place in The American Athletic Conference in 2015, recording a 16-15 (10-10 AAC) mark. The Huskies saw a four-match improvement from the 2014 campaign.
