    MANSFIELD, Conn. - The University of Connecticut volleyball team had a busy morning on Saturday in the midst of its 2014 preseason. Student-athletes, coaching staff members, and support staff arrived at the Bicentennial Pond and Mansfield Middle school at 8 a.m. to volunteer for the "Kids Who Tri Succeed" Children's Triathlon.

    "Kids Who Tri Succeed" is a USAT-sanctioned triathlon for children ages 4-to-14. Now in its ninth year, the event is dedicated to teaching kids the important of fitness and how to effectively work towards a fitness goal. The event draws children from the local area as well as participants from New York and Massachusetts.

    Participant check-in ran from 8-8:45 a.m. with the race officially kicking off at 9:30 a.m. Members of the team spent the morning encouraging competing children and serving as course supervisors
