UConn (5-3) is coming off a successful 2-0 weekend at the Bucknell Tournament in Lewisburg, Pa. The Huskies swept Cornell, 3-0, on Sept. 12 behind a 13-kill, two-ace performance from Erika Thomas (Ocoee, Fla.), before finishing up play with a 3-1 win over the Bison on Saturday. Senior tri-captains Brianna Datti (Durham, N.H.) and Devon Maugle (Plymouth Meeting, Pa.) earned spots on the All-Tournament team and Datti was honored as the tournament MVP.

Thomas, who currently sits at No. 10 in program history with 272 total blocks, needs just 13 blocks this weekend to move up to eighth. Fellow junior Immanuella Anagu (Culver City, Calif.) needs 31 more rejections to break into the top-10.

The Huskies and Pride have met 10 times on the court with Hofstra holding a 7-3 advantage, including a 3-0 win in the last meeting (Sept. 14, 2007). This season, Hofstra is out to a 9-2 start, headlined by senior OH Kelsie Wills, who has connected for 3.97 kills/set through the team’s first 11 matches. As a team, the Pride are hitting .268 and have combined for a 99-to-51 block advantage over opponents.

Saturday’s match will be the first-ever meeting between UConn and Bryant. Through 13 matches, the Bulldogs have compiled a 3-10 record and have dropped their last five contests. The Huskies and Lions have not played since the 1989 season when UConn took home a three-set win. Overall, the Huskies hold a 3-0 all-time series edge.

Fans attending Saturday’s matches, please be advised all roads leading to Gampel Pavilion will be closed from 10:45 a.m. -12 p.m due to the Run With Your Pack 5K, a race to benefit suicide prevention and mental health awareness at UConn. The North Parking garage will be accessible throughout the day. Normal parking rates will apply.  For a full map of road closures, please CLICK HERE
