QUEENS, N.Y. (Oct. 14) - The University of Connecticut women's volleyball team fell to St. John's, 3-0 (23-30, 23-30, 25-30) on Friday evening. The Huskies are now 10-9 overall and 2-4 against BIG EAST competition.
Freshman Sarah Singer (Waukesha, Wisc.) led the Huskies offensively with 13 kills. She also had one service ace and six digs in the loss. She also had a hitting percentage of .571 for the match. Senior Megan Crawley (Georgetown, Texas) had 12 kills and picked up six digs in the match. Sophomore Sade Chambers (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) had six kills in the loss while fellow sophomore Brittany Stewart (Dolton, Ill.) led UConn with 11 digs in the match.
St. John's was led by Caitlin Rimgaila, who had 15 kills. Shameka Mitchell had 13 kills and 12 digs for the Red Storm, who are 17-6 overall and 3-3 in BIG EAST play.
UConn is next in action on Tuesday, Oct. 18 when they travel to Albany, N.Y. to take on Albany. Match time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
