Four Husky players tallied double figures in kills, led by sophomore Kenya Cason (Columbus, Ohio) with 16. Cason also added 13 digs to complete her sixth double-double of the season. Junior Jade Strawberry (Tallahassee, Fla.) posted 17 digs and 11 kills for a double-double of her own. Senior captain Erika Thomas (Ocoee, Fla.) and sophomore Danielle Cabel notched 12 kills apiece to round out the quartet. Junior Rebecca Rivera (Mississauga, Ontario) finished with 29 assists and 13 digs.

The Huskies and Pirates have met in competition on two occasions, splitting last year’s home-and-home series in ECU’s inaugural season in The American. On Sept. 26, 2014, UConn came away with a 3-1 win in the first-ever meeting between the two programs as senior Immanuella Anagu (Culver City, Calif.) notched a team-best 14 kills and hit .346 on the night. Strawberry delivered 10 kills and six digs in the triumph. Later that year, the Huskies fell in five sets at home en route to Devon Maugle’s ’15 1,000th career kill.

ECU currently ranks No. 5 in the conference standings after compiling a 3-3 mark in league play and a 10-7 overall record.

This season, UConn holds a 5-2 mark on its home court. Over the last five seasons, the Huskies are 35-26 at Gampel Pavilion.
