Mattison Quayle Named BIG EAST Volleyball Player of the Week

Junoir Mattison Quayle totaled 41 kills en route to earning Player of the Week honors.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Connecticut junior Mattison Quayle led the Huskie's volleyball team to a 2-0 week and was named BIG EAST Player of the Week. Marquette's Chelsea Heier was named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week for her play as the Golden Eagles went 1-1.

Quayle averaged 5.13 kills per set for Connecticut in the Huskie's two victories. She matched a career high with 21 kills in a 3-1 victory over Fordham on Oct. 11. She posted her second straight 20-plus kill game with 20 in a 3-1 win over St. John's. Her 20 kills and 11 digs against the Red Storm gave her team-leading fifth double-double of the season.

Heier earned freshman of the week honors for the second-consecutive week and third time this season.  She totaled 87 assists in matches against Middle Tennessee and Syracuse, averaging 12.43 assists per set. She tied a career-high with 57 assists in the four-set victory over Syracuse.
