Pair of Husky Freshmen Honored by BIG EAST

BIG EAST Rookie of the Week Marissa Prinzbach.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Freshman setter Marissa Prinzbach (Cincinnati, Ohio) of the University of Connecticut volleyball team was named the BIG EAST Rookie of the Week for the week ending October 21.  Classmate Immanuella Anagu (Culver City, Calif.) was added to the BIG EAST Honor Roll.

In a 2-0 weekend for the Huskies, Prinzbach commanded the UConn offense with 98 assists and averaged 10.89 per set.  Against USF on Friday night, she reached the 50-assist mark for the third time this season, added four kills and tied for the team lead with 18 digs.  On Sunday, Prinzbach dished out 48 assists in just four sets and contributed six digs and three blocks to wrap up a win over Pittsburgh.

Anagu, a middle blocker, hit an astounding .525 for the weekend on 25 kills and just four errors.  She tallied a career-high 15 kills against the Bulls, while hitting .667 with four blocks.  Against the Panthers, Anagu posted 10 kills, hit .368 and chipped in with six blocks.

Connecticut returns home for a pair of conference match-ups against Rutgers and Seton Hall this weekend.  The Huskies enter the weekend in a tie for fifth in the BIG EAST at 5-4 with the Pirates.
