STORRS, Conn. -- The UConn women's volleyball team (11-15, 2-9 American) returns home this weekend to host a pair of American Athletic Conference matches against South Florida (13-11, 7-3 American) and Central Florida (16-7, 7-3 American). The Huskies previously visited the two schools in the Sunshine State in early October, falling in three sets at USF and in five at UCF. USF visits on Friday, Nov. 8 at 7 p.m., before UCF comes to town on Sunday, Nov. 10 at 2 p.m.
The Huskies are coming off an 0-2 weekend on the road, falling to Texan league foes Houston and SMU. Connecticut is still searching for its first road victory in conference play this season, currently sitting at 0-6 in such contests.
Connecticut has faced USF 10 times after this year’s earlier match-up, and holds a 7-3 edge all-time against the Bulls. The UCF match was only the second meeting between the squads, with the Knights winning both installments of the series.
Karson Ratliff and Erika Thomas lead the UConn offense, with Ratliff posting a team-high 279 kills, good for 2.85/set. Thomas has added 209 kills (2.07/set) and is attacking at a .278 clip, seventh in The American. She is also among the league leaders with 1.13 blocks/set. Marissa Prinzbach leads the team with 9.57 assists per set, and Brianna Datti is tops on the squad with 42.6 digs a frame.
Following UConn's two home games this weekend, the Huskies travel to New Jersey for a Nov. 15 match with the Scarlet Knights of Rutgers.
