Women's Volleyball Defeats Georgetown in Final Regular Season Match 3-0



    WASHINGTON, D.C. (November 11, 2007) - Four Huskies posted double-digit kills as the University of Connecticut women's volleyball team defeated Georgetown 3-0 (30-22, 30-28, 30-23) in the Huskies' final regular season match of the 2007 season on Sunday afternoon.

    The Huskies entered today's match after losing to South Florida 3-0 on Friday night in Tampa Bay, Fla.

    Senior Sadé Chambers (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) recorded a team-high 14 kills for the Huskies while teammate Gina Heiderman (Niles, Ill.) picked up 13 kills.

    Sophomore setter Bridget Denson-Dorman (Golden Valley, Minn.) dished out 48 assists while freshmen Lauren Lamberti (Cary, Ill.) and Rebecca Murray (Carmel, Ind.) chipped in 11 kills on the afternoon.

    UConn recorded 16, 22 and 18 kills in the three games, overpowering Georgetown's 10, 13 and 12 kills.

    Georgetown's Caitlin Boland had 26 assists in the loss while Kortney Robinson picked up a team-high 10 digs for her program.

    UConn ends the regular season with an overall record of 18-10 and a BIG EAST record of 8-6. The Huskies will await the conclusion of other matches around the conference to decide their placement in the BIG EAST Conference Tournament, set to start Nov. 15 in Milwaukee, Wisc.
