STORRS, Conn. – The University of Connecticut volleyball team heads to the City of Brotherly Love for its second midweek American Athletic Conference match of the season against Temple on Wednesday, Nov. 18 at 5 p.m.

UConn (16-11, 10-6 The American) continued its impressive showing on its home court after picking up wins against USF and UCF last weekend. When the Huskies swept the Bulls on Friday, senior Immanuella Anagu (Culver City, Calif.) tallied seven kills on 12 attempts for a .417 hitting percentage and five blocks. On Sunday, sophomore Kenya Cason (Columbus, Ohio) and junior Jade Strawberry (Tallahassee, Fla.) both posted double-doubles. Cason had 17 kills and 15 digs while Strawberry added 20 kills and 11 digs in the five-set victory over the Knights.   

Over the weekend, Anagu brought her career blocks total to 428, moving ahead of Christine Lambert ’02 to rank third among UConn’s all-time career blocks leaders.

Connecticut is 4-8 in the all-time series against Temple (20-8, 11-5 The American) since meeting for the first time in 2013. In October, the Huskies battled to take a five-set win over the Owls behind double-doubles from Cason and Strawberry and double-digit kill performances from two other Husky players.

On the national scale, Anagu checks in at No. 84 in the country and second in the conference with 1.16 blocks/set. She also ranks 105th nationally and fourth in the league with 111 total blocks this season.


 

 

UConn currently stands third in the league behind top-ranked SMU (25-3, 15-1 The American) and Temple.

The Huskies have won nine of its last 10 games, including their current streak of three in-a-row. UConn has been victorious in 28 of the last 41 sets.
