Senior Jackie Wattles will be honored before Sunday's match vs. Temple

STORRS, Conn. -- The UConn women's volleyball team (12-17, 3-11 American) closes its 2013 home slate this weekend with a pair of league matches. The Huskies welcome Memphis (13-15, 5-9 American) to Gampel Pavilion for a rare noon game on Friday, then host Temple (17-9, 8-6 American) for Senior Day on Sunday at 2 p.m.
Prior to the Temple game on Sunday, UConn will honor its lone senior, middle blocker Jackie Wattles (Liberty Hill, Texas).
UConn is led this year offensively by outside hitter Karson Ratliff (Wake Forest, N.C.) who is first on the squad with 309 kills (2.89/s). Sophomore Erika Thomas (Ocoee, Fla.) leads UConn in hitting percentage (.263) and total blocks (124), while classmate Immanuella Anagu (Culver City, Calif.) is second on UConn in both kill/set with 2.01 and total blocks with 109. Brianna Datti (Durham, N.H.) leads UConn with 4.27 digs/set and Marissa Prinzbach (Cincinnati, Ohio) paces the offense with 9.61 assists per frame.
The Tigers come into Storrs with a 13-15 record, including a 5-9 mark in conference play. Lauren Hawkins is Memphis' leading attacker with 262 kills , 86 total blocks and a .249 hitting percentages, while Caitlin Lilly has added 237 kills. Veronica Zimmerman is the top setter, dishing out 10.4 assists/set, and Aleksandra Petronijevic leads the team with 5.09 digs per frame.
The Owls have posted a strong 2013 campaign, compiling a 17-9 record and an 8-6 mark in American play. Gabriella Matautia is first on the team with 333 kills and 3.47 kills/set, and is supported by Caroline Grattan's 198 and 2.54. Sandra Sydlik leads Temple with 9.34 assists/set, also added 61 kills and 233 digs. Alyssa Draschlin is the top defensive player with 4.38 digs/set, while Jennifer Iacobini tops the squad with 81 total blocks.
Following this weekend, UConn goes on the road to close the 2013 season with matches at Louisville on Nov. 27 and Cincinnati on Nov. 29.
