STORRS, Conn. – The UConn women’s cross country team took first place at the 2017 UMass Minuteman Cross Courtney Invitational on Saturday afternoon in their first event of the season. The Huskies grabbed 25 points and a time of 1:30:11:00 in the win.
Six Huskies finished in the top 10, led by Mia Nahom who led all UConn runners with a time of 17:55 to finish third overall.
The Huskies took the four consecutive spots as Brianna O’Brien, Kelsey Swanson, Courtney Akerley and Haley Hasty finished fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh, respectively, garnering points for their squad. Danielle Jordan rounded out the top-10 finishers with an eighth place finish and a time of 18:17
UMass Amherst notched 49 points to finish second, while Vermont turned in 86 points for a third place finish.
The Huskies are back in action on Friday, Sept. 15 in Amherst, N.Y. at the UB Stampede Invitational.
