BOSTON, Mass. – The University of Connecticut women’s cross country team placed 21st at the New England Championships on Saturday afternoon after tallying 589 points.

Coming off a strong show at the Roy Griak Invitational and earning eight votes in this week’s USTFCAAA National Coaches’ Poll, Husky Head Coach Andrea Grove-McDonough chose to sit the top nine runners in order to rest for next week's Penn State Nationals.

Junior Kimberly Moran was the top Husky as she captured the lone top-100 finish with the 96th seat in a time of 19:32.

Moran was followed by sophomores Cassondra Hunter (Preston, Conn.) and Cassandra Goutos (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) in 11th (19:43) and 113th (19:46) spots, respectively.

The final two Huskies was senior Christine Vogel (Glastonbury, Conn.) in 122nd with a time of 19:54 and graduate student Maureen Stringham (Hockessin, Del.) in 147th at 20:10.
