    LOUISVILLE, Ky.- The University of Connecticut women's cross country team competed in the 2011 Women's BIG EAST Cross Country Championship on Saturday morning as they took seventh place with 165 points and sophomore Lauren Sara leading the pack.

    The Huskies raced against 16 league opponents with Villanova capturing the title for the fourth consecutive year in a row. The BIG EAST is known as one of the toughest conferences in the NCAA with seven of the teams being nationally ranked in the Oct. 19 NCAA Cross Country Coaches' Poll.

    Sara continued to be the leader for the Huskies as she concluded the afternoon with a eighth place finish in a time of 20:16.0, a new season best, in the 6k event.

    Connecticut had five runners cross the finish line in the top 50 and all nine come in the top 100 out of the 138 runners.

    Following Sara, freshman Lindsay Crevoiserat and sophomore Allison Lasnicki came in 35th (21.17.7) and 36th (21:18.4), respectively. Completing the top 50 for the Huskies was junior Brigitte Mania in 41st with a time of 21:33.0 and senior Heather Wilson in 48th in 21:42.1.

    Shortly behind the first five Huskies were seniors Courtney Dinnan in 56th with a time of 22:04.02 and Meghan Cunningham in 63rd at 22:22.0. Other competitors for UConn included sophomore Cassandra Goutos in 86th (22:52.3) and junior Kimberly Moran was the 90th runner to cross the line in 23:00.7.
