National Student Athlete Day - Award #6

Shauna McNiff

April 13, 2013

STORRS, Conn. - Cross-country student-athlete Shauna McNiff has been a strong leader on and off the course during her four years at UConn. Shauna will graduate in May with a degree in Psychology and a minor in English. During her time at UConn she was a member of the Athletic Director's Honor Roll as well as a member of the Big East All-Academic Team.

During the 2012 cross country season, the Captain helped establish the cross country team as one of the top teams in the area and in the country. At the Big East Championship meet, Shauna helped lead her team to a program-best second place finish.

At the Northeast Regional Championships, she garnered All Region Honors while helping her team again to a second-place finish. Competing in the team's first NCAA Championships, Shauna helped lead them to an 8th place finish. Plagued by setbacks during her junior season, Shauna came back stronger than ever during the team's record setting 2012.

Shauna is a hard-working and motivated individual who will go on to accomplish even more success after graduation!
