UConn Looks to Continue Early Success at UB Stampede Invitational

STORRS, Conn. - After a dominating run by the UConn women's cross country team to win the Minuteman Invitational last week, the Huskies look to continue their success at the UB Stampede Invitational on Friday morning (11 a.m.).

In the Minuteman Invitational, UConn took first place with 25 points after six runners placed in the top-10. The squad was led by freshman Mia Nahom who turned in a third place finish with a time of 17:55. Classmate Brianna O'Brien also had an impressive collegiate debut, as the freshman claimed fourth overall with 17:57 finish.

In addition to a third and fourth place finish, the Huskies grabbed four of the remaining five spots in the top-10. Juniors Kelsey Swanson, Courtney Akerly and Haley Hasty crossed the finish line eight seconds apart to finish, fifth, sixth and seventh, respectively, and garner points for their team. Sophomore Danielle Jordan rounded out the top-10 finishers for UConn, clocking in at 18:17 for a ninth place finish.

Uconn also placed two more runners in the top-25, as Mary Monda Oewel and Liz Lagoy placed 24th and 25th, respectively, posting times of 18:46 and 18:49.
