BOSTON, Mass. - The University of Connecticut women's cross country team finished a successful day at the New England Championships in Boston on Saturday afternoon. The team finished in 2nd place out of 43 teams, competing at Franklin Park in Boston, Mass. New Hampshire won the meet, finishing with 67 points.
Two Huskies posted top-10 finishers, as Emily Durgin led the charge, grabbing 7th place with a 17:29 finish. Brigitte Mania checked in right behind her Husky teammate, finishing at 17:45 and earning a 10th place finish.
Also adding to the Huskies strong day was Abby Mace who posted a top-20 finishing, taking 19th place with a time of 18:07.
"It was nice to race in a bigger meet before Wisconsin and championship season. We have all been putting in hard work the past few weeks and I know it will show at Wisconsin and then in the championship meets," said coach Amy Begley. "I think everyone ran tough this weekend."
The Huskies will look to continue to build momentum in the Wisconsin Adidas Invite next weekend in Madison, Wis. The race is set to begin at noon.
