Grabarz Paces UConn Harriers at NCAA District I Qualifier

Bronx, N.Y. - For the second straight season, the University of Connecticut women's cross country team finished 14th at the NCAA District I Qualifier as it ended its 2000 campaign Saturday in Bronx, NY. Behind 460 points the Huskies beat out a little more than half the 36-team field, which was led by Boston College (46).

For the third time this year, Kelly Grabarz (Sr., Brookfield, CT) led the Huskies efforts with a time of 22:00.6. Running second on the team was Sarah Hyman-Casilli (Fr., Jamaica Plain, NY) who turned in a time of 22:25.2 for 72nd. Kelly Joy (So., N. Montpelier, VT) and Lauren Dunning (Jr., Toms River, NJ) followed in 82nd and 117th with times of 22:37.9 and 23:22.9, respectively. Kiley Margolis (Fr. Trumbull, CT) contributed to UConn's scoring for the second straight outing as she finished 154th in 23:58.5.

The University of Connecticut women's track and field team makes its debut at the Brown Invitational on Dec. 2. UConn began its season a year ago at the same meet, however, no team scores were tallied.
