STORRS, Conn. (AP) - Albert Mouring scored a career-high 31 points to lead Connecticut to an 85-72 win over Virginia Tech Saturday as the Huskies snapped a five-game losing streak.

UConn coach Jim Calhoun missed the second half after complaining of lightheadedness. Associate head coach Dave Leitao coached the rest of the game while Calhoun was treated by the team trainer and spent the half in the locker room.

Caron Butler had 16 points and Johnnie Selvie had team-high 14 rebounds for UConn (14-7, 3-5 Big East). Brian Chase led the Hokies (8-12, 2-7) with 16 points.

Mouring was 9-of-17 from the floor and hit 3-of-10 3-pointers, including two in a 25-9 second half run to help the Huskies pull away.

The senior guard also completed a 6-point play in that spurt. Tempers flared after he was intentionally fouled by Joe Hamilton while dunking off a fastbreak. Hamilton and UConn's Taliek Brown then drew technicals. Mouring hit all four free-throws stemming from Hamilton's fouls to put UConn up 63-48 with 8:58 left to play.

Tech would get no closer than eight the rest of the way.

The Huskies shadowed Chase, the Hokies' scoring leader from the start. A threat from the perimeter, Chase didn't launch his first shot until there was 8:48 left in the first half. He missed the 3-point attempt but found his touch minutes later to kick off a 9-0 run to cut the Huskies' lead to 25-24. The Hokies got no closer the rest of the way and UConn took a 32-28 lead at the break.

Bryant Matthews added 15 points for the Hokies. Tech's Mibindo Dongo had a team-high seven rebounds before fouling out in the final two minutes.
