STORRS, Conn. - As part of the many campus-wide improvements, there will be several road closures on the Storrs campus beginning immediately after the 2018 Commencement ceremonies have concluded. For planning purposes it is important so that you can share with any visitors, guests as well as for normal work-day activity.
Route 195 is the recommended roadway for North/South access across campus, however the upper and lower levels of the South Garage will be accessible from either direction via Alumni Drive from the north or Bolton Road from the south. The North Garage will operate normally.
Starting as soon as Tuesday, May 8, a portion of Hillside Road will be closed between Glenbrook Road and Gilbert Road for the summer. This will also close access to the parking lot outside of Greer Field House and any access to Jim Calhoun Way from Hillside Road. The road is scheduled to reopen by early August.
Jim Calhoun WAY and GAMPEL SERVICE DRIVE
Starting as soon as Monday, May 7, a portion of Jim Calhoun Way will be closed between Hillside Road and the entrance to the South Garage's lower level. This closure will continue thru early August. In addition, the Gampel Service Drive between Jim Calhoun Way and the West Entry to Gampel Pavilion will be closed for at least the month of May. Access to the rear of Gampel & Greer Field House will be maintained via the west side of the Werth Family Basketball Champions Center.
In addition to this infrastructure work, construction will also start in May for a paved parking area adjacent to the TAB building (modular office buildings behind the Werth facility). This work will also include some reconfiguration of the existing parking adjacent to the Gampel loading dock and alongside the Sherman Complex.
NORTH EAGLEVILLE ROAD
North Eagleville Road will again have construction activity throughout the summer months. It will remain open one-way (eastbound) between Discovery Drive and Glenbrook Road, and open to two-way traffic between Glenbrook Road and Route 195. Please note when exiting Glenbrook Road onto North Eagleville Road, vehicles will only be able to turn right toward Route 195.
A portion of Alumni Drive from Hillside Road to Husky Circle will be limited to a single lane with alternating traffic. This pavement resurfacing work will be completed over a 7-10 day period --- exact dates TBD pending additional information from Facilities Operations.
We will send additional updates throughout the summer. Additional information regarding all of the traffic impacts across the Storrs campus can be found by visiting uconn.edu/construction.
