HookC Sweeps UNF, Moves to 5-1

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The UConn baseball team (5-1) scored a pair of runs in the 10th inning to earn a three-game series sweep of UNF on Sunday afternoon at Dusty Rhodes Field.
The Huskies loaded the bases in the 10th with three walks and Zach Bushling followed with a sacrifice fly to break a 3-3 tie. Captain Erik Stock quickly followed with an RBI single to extend the lead to 5-3.
UConn closer Justin Willis earned the victory after stranding the potential winning run at second in the ninth and then recording a scoreless 10th inning with a game-ending 4-6-3 double play.
The Huskies jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first after David Smith singled, stole second and scored on a Bushling RBI double.
UConn added on with a pair of runs in the third including a solo home run off the bat of T.C. Simmons. It was the outfielder's first career home run with the Huskies.
Smith, Bushling, Simmons and Stock all finished the day with a pair of hits.
Starting pitcher Enzo Stefanoni pitched 5.0 innings with zero walks and four strikeouts.
Freshman Jack Sullivan pitched a career-high 2.0 shutout innings without allowing a hit and stranding the go-ahead run at second in the seventh.
The Huskies will return to action on Friday, March 4 with the series opener against FIU at 7 p.m.
