STORRS, Conn. - The No. 25 UConn baseball team (15-4) bested Bryant, 9-1, on Wednesday afternoon at Elliot Ballpark.
Cole Chudoba earned his first victory as a Husky with four shutout innings that featured a career-high seven strikeouts.
While the Oxford, Conn. native was dealing, the UConn offense was able to give him plenty of support.
Erik Stock started the Huskies off with a solo shot in the first inning. The UConn center fielder recorded a three-hit day and was a triple shy of the cycle.
Chris Brown added an RBI single in the third inning while Casey Dana smoked a two-run double in the fourth to make it 6-0 Huskies.
T.C. Simmons added his third home run of the year, a solo shot, in the sixth to make it 8-0 Huskies.
Hector Alejandro, Ian Cooke, Sam Favieri and Devin Kirby all threw scoreless innings out of the pen.
Next up, the Huskies will play at three-game series against URI with Friday (3:05 p.m.) and Sunday's (1:05 p.m.) games in Storrs.
