Souleymane Wane

At Connecticut: Will return for 2000-2001 season for final year of athletic eligibility... Was originally a partial qualifier at UConn and has gained a fourth year of eligibility by graduating in three and one-half years... Has appeared in 92 games in three seasons, making three career starts... Averaging 2.8 points and 3.8 rebounds in three seasons... Has blocked 85 shots in his career... Entered UConn as a freshman in January of 1997 (spring semester of 1996-97) and became eligible for game competition on December 20, 1997 (after the conclusion of 1997-98 fall semester)... Practiced with Huskies for two semesters (spring 1997 and fall 1997) before gaining eligibility...Named UConns Scholar-Athlete after 1997-98 season... Played with the Senegal National Team during the summer of 1998.

As a Senior in 1999-2000: Played in 34 of 35 games, making one start vs. Boston College... Averaged 4.3 points and 4.8 rebounds on the season... No. 3 on the squad with 32 blocked shots... Reached double figures in points and rebounds two times each... Had eight points and seven rebounds in NCAA Second Round vs. Tennessee... Had nine rebounds in the win over Seton Hall in the BIG EAST quarterfinals... Had ten rebounds in win over Arizona at Great Eight... Had a career-high 14 points in 16 minutes of play vs. Massachusetts.

As a Junior in 1998-99: Played in 30 games, starting both regular season games vs. Syracuse (February 1 & February 28) in place of injured teammate Jake Voskuhl... Averaged 2.0 points and 2.8 rebounds per game... Totaled four points and a steal in only eight minutes of play in the National Championship Game vs. Duke... Gave UConn a big lift off the bench in semifinal and championship games of BIG EAST Tournament, totaling ten points and adding two blocked shots... Totaled 22 blocked shots during season... Totaled a season-high nine points vs. Wagner on November 27... Had his best rebounding and blocks efforts of the year in the season opener vs. Quinnipiac on November 15, registering nine rebounds and three blocked shots.

As a Sophomore in 1997-98: Became eligible December 20, 1997 vs. North Carolina-Wilmington...In 28 college contests, totaled 107 rebounds (3.8 avg.) and 31 blocks (1.1/game) while adding 54 points (1.9 avg.)...Totaled 12 points and six blocked shots in three BIG EAST Tournament games... Came off the bench in first college game and scored five points while adding team highs of eight rebounds and three blocks in 15 minutes of action...Scored seven points with 11 rebounds and two blocks in 25 minutes of action vs. Notre Dame (Jan. 3).

Before UConn: Played his first and only season of organized basketball during 1995-96 at Redemption Christian Academy in Troy, NY...Averaged 18 points and 15 rebounds per game during the final 10 games of his one year at the school.
