AT CONNECTICUT: A strong, versatile player who will see most of his time as a defensive midfielder... A native of Senegal... 2000 NCAA Foundation Leadership Conference participant. AS A JUNIOR... Started in 22 of 23 games and played defensive midfield... Two goals came against Wake Forest and Boston College... Assisted on gamewinner at Notre Dame... Assisted on gamewinner in NCAA quarterfinals vs. Brown to send UConn to the national semifinals. AS A SOPHOMORE: Saw action in 20 games, making 13 starts... Injured his left knee and missed UConn’s first two NCAA games... Saw action versus Furman in the quarterfinals and Santa Clara at the College Cup... Had one assist as a defensive midfielder... Assist came versus Providence helping teammate Luis Arauz to a hat trick. AS A FRESHMAN: Named to BIG EAST All-Rookie Team... Played in 20 games for the Huskies, starting 16 ... Missed UConn’s first round NCAA game versus Penn State due to an ankle injury suffered during the BIG EAST Tournament...  Made his first career start versus West Virginia...  Tallied first collegiate goal versus Boston College to give the Huskies a 2-1 lead, and then headed in the gamewinner in sudden death overtime for his second goal of the season... Named BIG EAST Rookie of the Week (10/5)... Member of the Oakwood Soccer Club which captured the U-19 CJSA Open Cup Championship in 1999 under head coach Dave Farrell. IN HIGH SCHOOL: Attended Martin Luther King, Jr. High School in New York City... 1997-98 Parade All-American... Iron Horse award winner, given to the best boy’s soccer player in New York City... Two-time Daily News All-New York City Team pick... Captained his team to two New York City Championships, posting a perfect 38-0 record in those two seasons... Member of adidas All-Star Team at the prestigious ESP summer program... In his senior year, scored 26 goals and added 22 assists while playing for head coach Martin Jacobson. PERSONAL: Enrolled in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences... Pursuing undergraduate double major in French and economics... Already earned undergraduate major in OPIM... Born March 12, 1980.
