being one of the top defensive players both in the BIG EAST Conference as well
as nationally...expected to be one of the team’s leaders this season and provide
depth and athleticism at both guard spots and small forward...one of the top
slashers on the squad...has tallied double figure points 33 times in her
career...Connecticut boasts an overall mark of 139-8 with three national titles
in Battle’s first four years in Storrs.
2003-04 Season
Appeared in all 35 games, making one start vs. West Virginia (3/2)...top
defensive specialist off the bench...logged a team-high 56 steals...ranked fifth
on the squad with an average of 7.3 ppg...was team’s third-leading rebounder at
4.4 per contest...shot a solid .520 from the field and ranked among team leaders
from the free throw line at .829...posted double-figure points 11
times....registered eight points and five rebounds in national semifinal win
over Minnesota (4/4)...pulled down eight rebounds in NCAA East Regional
Semifinal win over Santa Babara (3/27)...recorded nine points in NCAA First
Round win over Pennsylvania (3/21)...tallied seven points and a season-high 10
rebounds vs. Virginia Tech (3/7) in the quarterfinals of the BIG EAST
Tournament...registered eight points in loss to Boston College (3/8) in BIG EAST
semifinals...made first start of season vs. West Virginia (3/2)...dished out a
season-high four assists in UConn’s loss at Villanova (2/28) and vs. West
Virginia (3/2)...came one shy of career-high with 17 points on 5-for-7 shooting
at Boston College (2/21)...was also 6-for-6 at the line, and added seven
rebounds, three assists and two steals vs. the Eagles...led team with 15 points
on 7-for-8 shooting against Pittsburgh (2/17), and added four rebounds and a
season-high five steals in just 16 minutes of action...registered 11 points on
4-of-6 shooting overall while adding five rebounds at Syracuse (2/11)...made
5-of-7 field goal attempts and sank 8-of-8 from the free throw line for a
career-high 18 points in 21 minutes of action against Miami (2/8), and added
five rebounds and two assists...tallied 11 points, five rebounds and three
steals in win at No. 1/1 Tennessee (2/5)...scored 15 points while shooting
6-of-12 shooting overall vs. St. John’s (1/31)...also added eight rebounds,
three assists and two steals vs. the Red Storm...drained 5-of-6 from the floor
including one 3-pointer, and added a pair of free throws while scoring 13 points
in 21 minutes of action at Virginia Tech (1/27)...scored eight points while
pulling down seven rebounds in 23 minutes off the bench vs. Boston College
(1/17)...in 18 minutes of action at West Virginia (1/7), scored 11 points on
5-for-6 shooting from the field, and added five rebounds and three
steals...snared nine rebounds against No. 4 Duke (1/3)...grabbed seven rebounds
in 21 minutes of action against Arizona State (12/18)...pulled down nine
rebounds in 13 minutes in exhibition win over the NWBL All-Stars (11/18).
2002-03 Season
2002-03 BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year...has made 13 career starts this
season in 37 games, including the first 12 games before missing a contest due to
an ankle injury...led the team in steals per game with 1.5 and was fourth on the
team in rebounding with 5.4 boards per game...scored a career-high 17 points and
grabbed a career-high seven steals versus Georgetown (2/23/03)...tied her
career-high of 13 rebounds at Pittsburgh (1/25/03)...posted back-to-back double
figure scoring games in the 2003 NCAA First/Second round and had her second
double-double of the season versus TCU with 16 points and 11 rebounds.
2001-02 Season
Reserve forward who played in all 39 games...averaged 5.4 points per game and
4.7 rebounds per game...scored in double-figures on eight occasions, including a
career-high 15 points versus Villanova (1/19/02)...pulled down a career-high 13
rebounds in 17 minutes of play versus Rhode Island (11/24/01) and matched the
effort with 13 boards versus Miami (1/12/02)...came off the bench to contribute
18 points (6.0 ppg) and 20 rebounds (6.7 rpg) during BIG EAST tournament play.
2000-01 Season
Saw action in the first five games of the season before being sidelined with an
elbow injury...received medical hardship for the 2000-01 season.
High School
WBCA All-America team member from the Linsly School in West Virginia...garnered
Parade All-America Fourth Team honors...named West Virginia Player of the
Year... Four-time Ohio Valley Class A Player of the Year...Gatorade Player of
the year for Pennsylvania... Selected as the All-State team captain...three-time
First Team All-State honoree...Rewrote the school record books by setting marks
for most points (1,532), rebounds (823) assists (385) and steals (371).
