STORRS, Conn. - The No. 25 UConn baseball team (17-6) lost 5-3 to Boston College on a cold afternoon at Elliot Ballpark.
The Huskies jumped on the board in the first after Erik Stock reached on a dropped fly ball in center field that allowed him to get to third. Ben Huber quickly followed with an RBI groundout to take a 1-0 lead.
After Boston College plated a pair of runs, Huber responded with a solo shot to right center to even the score at 2-2. The Huskies then placed runners at first and second with no outs but a fly out and double play ended the threat.
Cam Leary (solo) and Joe Vetrano (2-run) both homered to open a 5-2 lead for the Eagles.Â
Zach Bushling tripled and Stock singled to get the score to 5-3 but that is the closest UConn would get.
Casey Dana was the only Husky to record two hits in the contest.Â
Hector Alejandro pitched 1.2 scoreless frames for the Huskies out of the bullpen while Brendan O'Donnell and Brady Afthim both logged scoreless appearances.
Next up, the Huskies wrap up non-conference weekends with a three-game series at Kent State.
